Introduction
Singapore, a city that delights and inspires, has become an increasingly popular destination for food lovers and gluten-free travelers alike. As a leading country in Southeast Asia, with one of the strongest economies in the world, Singapore offers a luxurious lifestyle and an impressive variety of culinary experiences. From traditional dishes to innovative gourmet creations, the city is a paradise for food enthusiasts.
In this guide, I will take you on a journey through gluten-free dining in Singapore, sharing my personal experiences and recommendations to help you enjoy the best food with total peace of mind. We will explore 100% gluten-free restaurants, ensuring complete safety, as well as establishments that, while not exclusively gluten-free, make an effort to provide safe and delicious options for celiacs.
So, if you’re ready—let’s dive into Singapore’s gluten-free scene without limits!
Preparing for a Gluten-Free Trip to Singapore
Traveling to a foreign country as a celiac can be a challenge, but with proper planning and thorough research, you can ensure a safe and delicious gluten-free experience in Singapore. Yes, I know—this might sound a bit tedious and time-consuming. But don’t worry, I’ve done the hard work for you! This gluten-free travel guide compiles everything you need to know in one place.
Key Considerations Before Traveling:
Learn Basic Local Terms
Knowing the official and most widely spoken language of your destination is essential. Learning a few basic gluten-related terms in the local language can be incredibly helpful when dining out. Phrases like “gluten-free” and “celiac” are crucial to ensure you are understood correctly.
Additionally, I recommend carrying a printed gluten-free dining card in the local language. This will be your best ally during your trip, helping restaurant staff understand your dietary restrictions.
In Singapore, 95% of the population speaks English, but only about 2% of people are familiar with gluten-related issues. For this reason, I strongly advise bringing a laminated English Gluten-Free dining card to communicate your needs effectively in restaurants.

Research Gluten-Free Options in Singapore
(Or simply jump to the dedicated section in this guide!) Before heading to Singapore, take some time to research gluten-free dining options in the city.
I found very few reliable sources with up-to-date information, but I did discover a goldmine in this Facebook group: Gluten Free Singapore. The members frequently share updated information about restaurants with gluten-free menus, along with firsthand experiences from other travelers. I highly recommend checking it out!
Communicate with Restaurants in Advance
Before dining at a restaurant in Singapore, it’s best to clearly and concisely communicate your dietary needs. If you find a restaurant that isn’t listed in this guide but looks promising, you can:
Ask about gluten-free menu options and explain your celiac condition. It’s crucial that they understand the importance of avoiding cross-contamination and the need to prepare your meal separately to ensure it’s safe.
Create a Gluten-Free Travel Map
Yes, you heard me—make a map! Mark all the monuments, attractions, and places of interest you want to visit, along with the locations of the best gluten-free restaurants.
This will help you plan your itinerary efficiently, ensuring that your cultural visits align perfectly with your gluten-free dining spots.
Get a Data SIM Card
One of the best travel hacks is having constant internet access. Being able to use Google Maps, check restaurant opening hours, or even search for specific dish ingredients is incredibly helpful.
Since our trip to Turkey, we’ve always opted to get an unlimited data SIM card for every destination. It has made traveling so much easier and allows us to search for gluten-free options on the go.
Best Gluten-Free Restaurants in Singapore
100% Gluten-Free Restaurants in Singapore
Finding fully gluten-free restaurants is always exciting—especially in a country where they are rare. Fortunately, Singapore’s strong economy and thriving food scene mean that there are several 100% gluten-free spots worth visiting.
The Whole Kitchen – This gluten-free, vegan-friendly café is a must for breakfast lovers. They offer waffles with margarita syrup, fresh pasta, and pastries, all made without gluten, dairy, or excess carbs. With two locations—one in the financial district (closed on weekends) and another in a central area open Monday to Saturday—it’s a top choice for celiacs in Singapore.

The Buchers Wife – A 100% gluten-free Brazilian restaurant with an impressive variety of vegetarian and lactose-free options. Their authentic Brazilian flavors and decadent desserts make this a must-visit spot for gluten-free travelers in Singapore.

Tiann’s – A standout in my top three gluten-free spots in Singapore, Tiann’s offers a mix of Italian, Argentine, and Asian cuisine. Their Korean Fried Chicken (KFC)—glazed fried chicken with chili paste and rice cake—is one of the best dishes I had in Singapore. They also serve gluten-free noodles (a rarity in Singapore!) and heavenly waffles with homemade ice cream.
Caveman Food – A paleo restaurant in Singapore, completely free of gluten, dairy, soy, sugar, and artificial flavors. I didn’t get to visit due to its location in Singapore’s commercial district, but if you’re nearby, it’s worth checking out.
Heng Heng Kueh – Specializing in Kuih, a traditional gluten-free Asian pastry. However, I couldn’t visit due to conflicting opening hours. While they claim to be gluten-free, I recommend asking about sauces and colorants to ensure there’s no hidden gluten.
Recommended Restaurants with Gluten-Free Options in Singapore
Not all great restaurants need to be 100% gluten-free. Some restaurants understand celiac disease and take cross-contamination seriously, making them safe and enjoyable options.

Genius Central – Surprising gluten-free options at Genius Central Singapore. Although Genius is not a 100% gluten-free restaurant, it is an amazing option for coeliacs in Singapore. Their extensive vegetarian menu includes a variety of gluten-free options that will captivate you. Don’t miss the Popcorn Chicken, organic popcorn chicken with capsicum mayo, red chilli and spring onion sauce, simply irresistible! In addition, you can enjoy typical Asian dishes such as Kung Pao Chicken and Thai Red Curry, all prepared gluten-free. Genius Central is a must-visit option for those who want to explore innovative gluten-free flavours in Singapore.

Decker Barbecue – This American restaurant does not offer a gluten-free menu, but there are more than twenty-four gluten-free options on the menu. This is another restaurant that I have yet to visit, as I didn’t have enough time to visit all the gluten-free restaurants in Singapore in a four-day stay. But when I made the list of places to eat gluten free, I contacted the restaurant and they answered me very kindly and told me that all their meats are grilled, and that all the breading and potatoes that are gluten free are made in a special fryer to avoid cross contamination, so, although I could not go to the Decker becomes one of my recommendations. Here are some photos to help you understand why.
Entre-Nous Creperie – A fantastic gluten-free creperie that offers both sweet and savory crepes. They use separate griddles to ensure no cross-contamination, making it a great option for a full meal or a quick snack.
Pura Brasa – A restaurant specializing in grilled dishes, well-known in Barcelona and Platja d’Aro. They offer a special gluten-free menu with most dishes prepared on the grill, including their gluten-free nachos.
The Soup Spoon – A chain with 23 locations across Singapore, offering vegetarian-friendly options and some gluten-free dishes. While I found their selection somewhat limited, they can be a convenient and quick choice. Some locations may have more gluten-free options than others, so I recommend checking with the staff before ordering. Although to be honest, I didn’t really like the kind of food I tasted. Maybe I would have gone somewhere else. Or I just didn’t make the right choice.
Tonito – Located in Jewel Changi Airport, this Latin American restaurant doesn’t explicitly list gluten-free options on the menu, but the staff is well-informed and can assist in selecting safe gluten-free choices.
Wild Honey Mandarin Gallery – While not entirely gluten-free, this restaurant offers gluten-free options, and the staff is knowledgeable about dietary restrictions, making it a great choice for trying local cuisine safely.
Skai – A high-end dining experience with stunning panoramic views of Marina Bay. They offer gluten-free menu options, but due to its exclusive pricing, it may not fit every traveler’s budget.

Yì By Jereme Leung – Located in Singapore’s famous Raflles. At the back you will find elegant shops and exclusive restaurants where you can enjoy an elegant evening. At Yì By Jereme Leung we can find a specific menu for coeliacs that costs around ninety euros, and in its normal menu there are also gluten-free options, and if you talk to the manager, the chef will be willing to prepare some off-menu dishes specifically for us.
Violet Oon – A well-known Malay cuisine restaurant led by a renowned Singaporean chef. They offer a variety of gluten-free dishes at more affordable prices than some of the high-end options. Reservations must be made via their website, and it’s essential to mention your celiac condition when booking—the staff is highly accommodating.
⚠️ Food Safety Warning ⚠️

🚨 Be cautious with Don Don Donki – This Japanese grocery store sells mochi (rice cakes) labeled as gluten-free, but they are not safe for celiacs. Several reports in the Facebook group Gluten-Free Singapore mentioned that these products contain more than 20ppm of gluten, making them unsafe for celiacs. Some members even had them tested in labs, confirming contamination.
Even though Don Don Donki offers other products marked as gluten-free, I chose not to trust their labeling. While I didn’t buy anything from the store, wandering through its aisles felt like a tourist experience in itself, especially with their extensive selection of Pokémon merchandise and Japanese collectibles.
Why You Should Get Travel Insurance for Your Trip Abroad
raveling is one of life’s greatest experiences, but unexpected situations can arise. A comprehensive travel insurance policy can protect you from unforeseen expenses and ensure peace of mind during your journey. Here’s why you should always get travel insurance before going abroad:
✅ Medical Emergencies: Healthcare costs can be extremely high in some countries. Travel insurance covers medical expenses, hospital stays, and emergency evacuations, saving you from unexpected financial burdens.

Getting Around Singapore
Singapore’s public transportation system is efficient, affordable, and easy to use. The best way to move around the city is by purchasing a Singapore Tourist Pass, which allows unlimited travel on public transport.
Where to Buy It? – The easiest place to buy it is at Changi Airport (Terminal 2), near Jewel Mall. You can also find it at major MRT stations.
Options & Pricing:
- 1-Day Pass – SGD 22
- 2-Day Pass – SGD 29
- 3-Day Pass – SGD 34
How It Works:
- The pass grants unlimited rides on public transport for the chosen duration.
- After the pass expires, you have 5 days to return it at a designated station for a SGD 10 refund (the card deposit).
- If you return the card on time, the 3-day pass effectively costs around 14 EUR.
Important Notes:
- The pass must be purchased with cash, so you may need to withdraw money upon arrival. Luckily, there is an ATM next to the ticket counter at Terminal 2.
- If you’re unfamiliar with using travel credit cards, check out my detailed guide on the best travel credit cards to avoid unnecessary fees.
Must-Do Experiences in Singapore
Singapore is a city meant to be lived—it’s vibrant, vast, and warm, making it a highly recommended destination. Here are some of the top experiences you shouldn’t miss:
Jewel Changi Airport – A mix of botanical gardens and a stunning indoor waterfall, straight out of a Jurassic Park movie. Also home to restaurants like Tonito’s.
Singapore Botanic Gardens – A UNESCO World Heritage Site, perfect for strolling through lush tropical landscapes.

Although not as impressive as the Botanical Gardens, you can still enjoy a relaxing stroll and take an instagrammable photo in the Fort Canning Tree Tunnel. Needless to say, there is a 30-minute queue to get your photo taken. We decided not to wait and took a quick photo while two girls made the change.

Gardens by the Bay – Be amazed by the Supertree Grove, which stores solar energy for a stunning light and music show at sunset.
Local Markets & Street Food – Although finding gluten-free options can be tricky, I found that some travelers safely enjoyed Hainanese Chicken Rice. I opted for a fresh coconut instead! 🍹
Cultural Events & Shows – Singapore celebrates festivals and holidays in grand style, from military parades to fireworks displays over Marina Bay.

Try Durian! – Known as the world’s smelliest fruit, it’s a must-try experience—but beware, it’s banned on public transport!
Conclusion: Enjoy Singapore Without Gluten Worries
Singapore is truly a gluten-free traveler’s paradise, offering a wide range of certified gluten-free restaurants, safe dining options, and must-visit experiences.
